If you do one thing here, make it the Cenote. The whole experience felt pretty safe and well put together. You are taken on a quick 20ish minute tour then you are free to swim as long as you want. There they have goggles and lockers for you to use. The only downside was we did not get to see the water filled portion of the cave do to “construction”.Īfter you finish the cave tour, you drive to the local Cenote (about 10 minutes from the cave). The cave was very beautiful and our tour guid was good. The average temperature ranges is 28° in the previous month and 27° in the next month. We did the cave tour and the Cenote swim. The average temperature in Riviera Maya in August is 28°. This was one of my favorite parts of my vacation.
RIVIERA MAYA WEATHER IN AUGUST REGISTRATION
It was take you to registration office where you check in. You follow a dirt road pretty far into the jungle, but the road is clearly marked and easy to follow. When you arrive to the gate off the highway, you tell the guard you are there for AktunChen and have tickets. We bought our tickets online to save time. You can also access that side of the cenote by taking the private property trail I mentioned above :) I recommend swimming out to the north side, there's a sandy beach you can hang out on, and way fewer people so you can get those beautiful shots of nature. Wear very good sandals if you want to walk around at all, the ground is broken lava rock with really cool fossils everywhere you look. Kids and those who tire while swimming should consider them though.īring a sun shirt to swim in and wear (no sunscreen is allowed in the cenote- ouch!). We did not need life vests, you float just fine in the ocean water. We provide day and night temperature, sunshine hours, sea temperature and rainfall averages for Riviera Maya in August.

Big parrot fish munching on coral, electric blue fish, so many I don't have a name for. 2 reviews 12 helpful votes Weather in August 7 years ago Save This summer we are planning to stay in Riviera Maya. We paid for it and it was worth the price for us. This place charges a $300 pesos (or $14USD) fee to enter the lagoon from their property.
